What is CVE-1999-0017?
FTP servers may have a security flaw that permits attackers to exploit the FTP protocol's bounce feature, allowing unauthorized access to arbitrary ports on any machine within the network. This vulnerability may pose a risk by enabling attackers to bypass firewalls and access potentially sensitive non-FTP services on systems that are directly accessible, leading to data breaches or further compromise of the network.
