What is CVE-2000-0885?

A buffer overflow vulnerability exists in Microsoft Network Monitor (Netmon) that could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary commands on the affected system. This vulnerability is facilitated through the manipulation of certain fields, such as a long Browser Name in a CIFS Browse Frame, a lengthy SNMP community name, or an excessively long username or filename within an SMB session. Exploiting this vulnerability could grant attackers significant control over the affected systems, potentially leading to unauthorized access and data breaches.
