What is CVE-2000-1037?

The Check Point Firewall-1 session agent, versions 3.0 through 4.1, exhibits a security flaw where it generates distinct error messages for invalid usernames versus invalid passwords. This discrepancy allows an attacker to infer valid usernames through the error responses and subsequently employ brute force techniques to guess passwords. The vulnerability enables remote attacks that can compromise user accounts by exploiting the authentication mechanism, leading to potential unauthorized access.
