What is CVE-2001-0083?
The Windows Media Unicast Service in Microsoft Windows Media Services versions 4.0 and 4.1 has a vulnerability related to the improper handling of certain connection shutdown processes. This flaw leads to a memory leak, which can be exploited by remote attackers. By repeatedly severing connections, an attacker may cause the server to exhaust its resources, resulting in a denial of service condition that disrupts media streaming services.
