Cisco Catalyst 5000 series switches, running version 6.1(2) and earlier, are susceptible to a denial of service vulnerability. This issue arises when the switch forwards 802.1x frames on ports that are blocked by the Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), potentially leading to significant network storms and disruptions. This behavior can overwhelm the network, causing service interruptions and affecting overall performance.
