What is CVE-2002-1174?

Fetchmail versions 6.0.0 and earlier are susceptible to buffer overflow vulnerabilities that can be exploited by remote attackers. Attackers can craft malicious long headers that bypass proper processing routines, such as the readheaders function, leading to potentially crashing the service or executing arbitrary code. Vulnerabilities arise from incorrect parsing of headers, particularly the Received: headers, making this flaw critical for users of affected versions to address quickly.
