What is CVE-2002-1175?

The Fetchmail tool has a boundary check flaw in its getmxrecord function that fails to properly validate the boundaries of malformed DNS packets. This oversight allows attackers to exploit Fetchmail or versions 6.0.0 and earlier to conduct remote denial-of-service attacks. When Fetchmail processes unexpected data beyond the intended boundaries, it can lead to crashes, disrupting email services.
