What is CVE-2004-0346?
The vulnerability allows local users to exploit an off-by-one buffer overflow in the _xlate_ascii_write() function within ProFTPD versions 1.2.7 through 1.2.9rc2p. By sending a specially crafted 1024 byte RETR command, an attacker can leverage this flaw to gain elevated privileges on the affected system, potentially compromising system integrity and security.
