What is CVE-2004-0551?

Cisco Catalyst switches running CatOS versions prior to 5.5(20) and 8.2(2) are exposed to a denial of service vulnerability. This flaw allows remote attackers to disrupt the service by sending invalid packets during the final acknowledgment phase of TCP's three-way handshake, targeting Telnet, HTTP, and SSH services. Exploiting this vulnerability can lead to system crashes and unexpected reloads, affecting network availability and operational continuity.
