What is CVE-2004-2583?

The SMTP service in SmarterTools SmarterMail versions 1.6.1511 and 1.6.1529 is susceptible to a denial of service attack. Attackers can exploit this vulnerability by establishing a large number of simultaneous open connections to TCP port 25, resulting in increased CPU consumption and potentially causing service unavailability. This vulnerability poses a risk for servers utilizing these older versions of SmarterMail, as it allows for disruption of email services.
