What is CVE-2005-1655?

AOL Instant Messenger versions 5.5.x and prior are susceptible to a denial of service vulnerability due to improper handling of the sml parameter within a font tag. An attacker can exploit this weakness by supplying an invalid smiley icon location, which ultimately causes the client application to crash, disrupting user sessions and creating potential avenues for further exploits.
