What is CVE-2005-1920?

The Kate and Kwrite applications within the KDE desktop environment are prone to a vulnerability that arises from the failure to appropriately set file permissions on backup files. As a result, backup files may not retain the same permission settings as their original counterparts. This oversight could permit local users and potentially remote attackers to access sensitive data contained in these backup files, posing a risk to user privacy and data integrity.
