What is CVE-2005-2279?

The Cisco ONS 15216 Optical Add/Drop Multiplexer (OADM), when running firmware version 2.2.2 and earlier, is susceptible to a denial of service attack. This vulnerability allows remote attackers to disrupt management plane sessions by sending specially crafted telnet data. As a result, legitimate users may experience loss of service and may be unable to manage the device effectively.
