What is CVE-2005-3581?

GDAL versions prior to 1.3.0-r1 are susceptible to a privilege escalation vulnerability that allows local users within the portage group to manipulate the Portage temporary build directory. Exploiting this weakness can permit the loading of arbitrary shared objects at runtime, grants unintended elevated privileges, potentially compromising system integrity and security.
