The device driver for Intel-based gigabit network adapters in Cisco Intrusion Prevention System versions 5.1(1) through 5.1(p1) is susceptible to a denial of service attack. By sending a specially crafted IP packet, remote attackers can trigger a kernel panic or potential network outage, compromising the availability of the affected systems.
