What is CVE-2007-1137?

The putmail.py script in Putmail versions before 1.4 has a significant implementation flaw where it fails to detect whether a server supports TLS. As a result, users may unwittingly send their usernames and passwords in plaintext, assuming that their connection is secure. This issue allows remote attackers to intercept sensitive information, posing a serious security risk for users relying on encrypted communication.
