What is CVE-2009-2703?

A vulnerability in the IRC protocol plugin of Pidgin allows remote IRC servers to exploit a TOPIC message that omits a topic string. This leads to a null pointer dereference, ultimately causing the Pidgin application to crash. The issue affects versions prior to 2.6.2, and users of Pidgin are advised to upgrade to the latest version to mitigate this risk.
