Summary

A use-after-free vulnerability exists in the abstract file-descriptor handling interface of CUPS, specifically in the cupsdDoSelect function located in scheduler/select.c. This flaw can potentially be exploited by remote attackers to cause a denial of service, such as forcing the daemon to crash or hang, particularly during the handling of a client disconnection amidst extensive print job listings. This vulnerability arose due to inadequate reference count management and is linked to a prior vulnerability. To mitigate risks, updates to version 1.4.4 or later are recommended.
