What is CVE-2010-10016?
BS.Player version 2.57 (build 1051) has a vulnerability in its playlist import functionality that permits a buffer overflow. The issue arises when the application processes specially crafted .m3u files, where it inadequately validates the length of playlist entries. This oversight allows attackers to exploit the condition by embedding long URLs within the playlist, eventually leading to the overwrite of Structured Exception Handler (SEH) records. The vulnerability is activated when a user opens a malicious playlist file, compromising the Unicode parsing logic in the Windows client. Users and administrators are advised to apply necessary updates and mitigations to protect against potential exploits.
Affected Version(s)
