Stack-based Buffer Overflow in Amlib's NetOpacs WebQuery DLL
CVE-2010-20112
What is CVE-2010-20112?
Amlib's NetOpacs webquery.dll is susceptible to a stack-based buffer overflow due to improper management of HTTP GET parameters. This flaw allows attackers to exploit the application by sending disproportionately large input to the app parameter, which can overwrite critical memory structures such as the Structured Exception Handler (SEH). Additionally, the vulnerability may be triggered by malformed parameter names followed by an equals sign, potentially redirecting control flow in unintended ways. This issue is prominent in legacy Windows environments and is accessible via IIS, posing significant risks to web applications utilizing this component.
