What is CVE-2012-10060?

The Sysax Multi Server, prior to version 5.55, has a vulnerability in its SSH service that allows an attacker to exploit a stack-based buffer overflow. By supplying an overly long username during the authentication process, the service improperly copies this input to a fixed-size stack buffer without adequate bounds checking. This flaw can enable a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code in the context of the service, potentially compromising the system.

Affected Version(s)

Multi Server * < 5.55

Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)

PoC code is written by security researchers to demonstrate the vulnerability can be exploited. PoC code is also a key component for weaponization which could lead to ransomware.
