What is CVE-2012-6396?
Cisco Nexus 7000 series switches contain a vulnerability where the system fails to accurately manage line-card replacements, allowing remote authenticated users to exploit this flaw. By presenting a specially crafted configuration that references non-existent interfaces on a newly added line card, an attacker can trigger significant memory consumption. This can lead to a complete denial of service, causing disruption in network operations and potentially impacting critical infrastructure.
