What is CVE-2013-10032?

An authenticated remote code execution vulnerability is present in GetSimpleCMS version 3.2.1, allowing authenticated users to upload files without sufficient validation of their MIME types or extensions. By exploiting this weakness, attackers can upload a .pht file that disguises malicious PHP code, bypassing existing blacklist restrictions. This unauthorized file can then be executed through direct access, leading to potential compromise of the web application's integrity. The reliance on a blacklist for filtering file uploads instead of a more secure whitelist approach is a significant contributing factor to this vulnerability.

Affected Version(s)

GetSimple CMS 3.2.1

Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)

PoC code is written by security researchers to demonstrate the vulnerability can be exploited. PoC code is also a key component for weaponization which could lead to ransomware.
