What is CVE-2014-125125?

A path traversal vulnerability exists in A10 Networks AX Loadbalancer that allows an attacker to manipulate the filename parameter within the /xml/downloads endpoint. This flaw results from improper sanitization of user input, enabling unauthenticated attackers to craft specific HTTP requests with directory traversal sequences. This exploitation can lead to unauthorized access to files outside the designated directory, including sensitive information such as SSL certificates and private keys. Moreover, files retrieved through this vulnerability are deleted from the system, raising the risk of unintended data loss and exposure.

Affected Version(s)

AX Series Loadbalancer * <= 2.6.1-GR1-P5

AX Series Loadbalancer * <= 2.7.0

Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)

PoC code is written by security researchers to demonstrate the vulnerability can be exploited. PoC code is also a key component for weaponization which could lead to ransomware.
