Man-in-the-Middle Attack Vulnerability in Shibboleth Identity Provider and OpenSAML Java
CVE-2014-3603

5.9MEDIUM

What is CVE-2014-3603?

The HttpResource and FileBackedHttpResource components in the Shibboleth Identity Provider prior to version 2.4.1 and OpenSAML Java prior to version 2.6.2 are vulnerable to man-in-the-middle attacks. These implementations fail to properly verify if the server hostname matches the domain name in the subject's Common Name (CN) or subjectAlternativeName field of an X.509 certificate. This oversight enables attackers to impersonate SSL servers using any valid certificate, potentially compromising data integrity and confidentiality during secure communications.
