Remote Denial of Service Vulnerability in FreeType Font Rendering
CVE-2014-9746
9.8CRITICAL
Summary
The FreeType library, prior to version 2.5.4, contains several functions (t1_parse_font_matrix, cid_parse_font_matrix, t42_parse_font_matrix, and ps_parser_load_field) that improperly handle return values during the parsing of font matrices. This oversight can be exploited by remote attackers via specially crafted font files, leading to uninitialized memory access and potential application crashes, thereby resulting in denial of service.
