What is CVE-2015-1328?
The OverlayFS implementation in Ubuntu's Linux kernel prior to version 3.19.0-21.21 fails to enforce proper permission checks on file creation within the upper filesystem directory. This oversight can be exploited by local users in scenarios where OverlayFS is allowed in an arbitrary mount namespace, potentially leading to unauthorized root access.
Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)
PoC code is written by security researchers to demonstrate the vulnerability can be exploited. PoC code is also a key component for weaponization which could lead to ransomware.
