What is CVE-2015-1395?

A directory traversal vulnerability exists in GNU Patch versions that support Git-style patching before 2.7.3. This flaw can be exploited by remote attackers, allowing them to write to arbitrary files with the same permissions as the target user, using crafted diff file names containing '..' sequences.
