What is CVE-2015-8921?

The ae_strtofflags function in the libarchive library prior to version 3.2.0 is susceptible to a denial of service condition. Attackers can exploit this vulnerability by crafting malicious mtree files, leading to out-of-bounds reads that may crash the application or service using the affected library. This could disrupt operations and compromise the integrity of systems relying on libarchive for data archiving and extraction.
