Information Disclosure in Android Devices due to Linux Kernel Permissions
CVE-2015-8944
5.5MEDIUM
What is CVE-2015-8944?
The vulnerability arises from the ioresources_init function in the Linux kernel, where weak permissions on the /proc/iomem file enable local users to read sensitive information. This affects Android devices before August 5, 2016, particularly the Nexus 6 and Nexus 7 (2013). The permissions set for /proc/iomem may lead to unintended exposure of system resources, allowing a malicious user with local access to gain insights into the system's hardware and memory management.
