Signature Algorithm Mismatch Vulnerability in Docker Notary by Docker
CVE-2015-9258
What is CVE-2015-9258?
Docker Notary is susceptible to a vulnerability in the Signature Algorithm Not Matched to Key, due to flaws in the handling of signature algorithms in the gotuf/signed/verify.go file. This allows an attacker to manipulate the field that specifies the signature algorithm, potentially leading to the forgery of signatures. By forcing the system to misinterpret an RSA-PSS key as Ed25519 elliptic-curve data, unauthorized users could evade security measures, which undermines the integrity of signed content. It is essential for users of Docker Notary to apply necessary patches and updates to safeguard their applications.
