Remote Code Execution Vulnerability in Avira Antivirus Engine
CVE-2016-10402
7.8HIGH
What is CVE-2016-10402?
The Avira Antivirus engine before version 8.3.36.60 is susceptible to a vulnerability that enables remote code execution with NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM privileges. This vulnerability is triggered by processing a section header containing a significantly large relative virtual address in a Portable Executable (PE) file, leading to an integer overflow and a heap-based buffer underflow. Exploit attempts can manipulate the memory allocation scheme, compromising system security and integrity.
