What is CVE-2016-15055?

JVC VN-T IP-camera models, specifically the VN-T216VPRU with firmware versions up to 2016-08-22, are susceptible to a directory traversal vulnerability in the checkcgi endpoint. This flaw allows unauthenticated remote attackers to send crafted requests which manipulate the user-controlled file parameter. By exploiting this vulnerability, attackers can gain unauthorized access to arbitrary files on the device, potentially exposing sensitive information.
