What is CVE-2016-15058?

The HiLCOS Classic Platform switches from Hirschmann have a vulnerability that exposes user credentials through synchronization with SNMPv1/v2 community strings. When the SNMP feature is enabled, passwords are transmitted in plaintext. This flaw allows an attacker with local network access to sniff the SNMP traffic or extract configuration data, leading to potential unauthorized administrative access to the affected switches. Users are advised to upgrade to the latest available versions to mitigate this risk.
