Denial of Service Vulnerability in ISC BIND 9.10.x
CVE-2016-2088
6.8MEDIUM
What is CVE-2016-2088?
This vulnerability affects ISC BIND 9.10.x versions prior to 9.10.3-P4 and stems from a flaw in the resolver component when DNS cookies are enabled. Attackers can exploit this weakness by sending a specially crafted packet containing more than one cookie option, causing the BIND daemon to assert failure and terminate unexpectedly. This denial-of-service condition can disrupt DNS services, rendering them unavailable until the daemon is manually restarted.
