What is CVE-2016-2366?

A vulnerability exists in Pidgin's handling of the MXIT protocol, wherein specially crafted MXIT data sent through the server can cause an out-of-bounds read. An attacker can exploit this flaw by sending malformed data, either directly from a malicious server or by intercepting network traffic. Such an exploit could lead to a crash of the application, compromising its availability and reliability.
