What is CVE-2016-2372?

An information leak vulnerability exists in Pidgin's handling of the MXIT protocol. This flaw allows specially crafted MXIT data to be sent via the server, potentially leading to an out-of-bounds read condition. Malicious users, servers, or man-in-the-middle attackers can exploit this issue by sending invalid file transfer sizes, resulting in a breach of data integrity. The implications include the possibility of leaking sensitive information from memory to files, which can then be sent to other users, thus compromising user privacy and security.
