What is CVE-2016-3674?
XStream versions prior to 1.4.9 are susceptible to multiple XML External Entity (XXE) vulnerabilities across several drivers including Dom4JDriver, DomDriver, JDomDriver, JDom2Driver, SjsxpDriver, StandardStaxDriver, and WstxDriver. These vulnerabilities can be exploited by remote attackers to read arbitrary files on the server by sending specially crafted XML documents. This presents a significant risk, as sensitive data may be accessed by unauthorized entities.
