What is CVE-2016-6197?

The vulnerability in the OverlayFS filesystem implementation allows local users to exploit insufficient verification of the upper dentry. This oversight during unlink and rename system-call processing can lead to a denial of service, causing the system to crash when a self-hardlink is created using a rename system call.
