Unauthenticated .NET Remoting Vulnerability in BMC Track-It! by BMC Software
CVE-2016-6599
What is CVE-2016-6599?
BMC Track-It! version 11.4 prior to Hotfix 3 is susceptible to an unauthenticated remote access vulnerability. This issue arises from the exposure of a .NET remoting configuration service on port 9010, allowing unauthorized users to retrieve a configuration file. This file includes sensitive details such as the application’s database name, username, password, and the domain administrator's credentials. These credentials are encrypted using a fixed key and IV with the DES algorithm, making them vulnerable to potential exploitation, especially when the Self-Service component is enabled, a common setup in enterprise environments.
