Remote Code Execution Vulnerability in Groovy Products by Apache
CVE-2016-6814

9.8CRITICAL

Key Information:

Vendor
Apache
Status

CVE Published:
18 January 2018

Summary

A vulnerability in multiple versions of Apache Groovy allows an attacker to exploit the insecure Java serialization mechanism. Applications using Groovy versions from 1.7.0 to 2.4.3 and 2.4.4 to 2.4.7 can be manipulated through specially crafted serialized objects. If an application does not properly isolate the code responsible for deserializing objects, this could enable an attacker to execute arbitrary code on the server, leading to a potential compromise of the application’s integrity. Developers using these versions should review their code for secure serialization practices and upgrade to avoid this risk.
