HTML Injection Vulnerability in KMail by KDE
CVE-2016-7966
What is CVE-2016-7966?
KMail, the email client from KDE, is susceptible to an HTML injection vulnerability that allows attackers to exploit a crafted malicious URL. This vulnerability takes advantage of the plaintext viewer's parsing method, which can permit the inclusion of HTML code despite certain limitations, such as the inability to use the equal sign (=) or space. Attackers can obscure harmful content using HTML comment indicators. This opens the door for potential data manipulation or other malicious actions, emphasizing the need for prompt updates and vigilance among users.
