What is CVE-2016-8689?
The read_Header function in the archive_read_support_format_7zip.c file of Libarchive version 3.2.1 contains a flaw that allows remote attackers to exploit a denial of service condition. By leveraging multiple EmptyStream attributes in a header of a specially crafted 7zip archive, these attackers can trigger an out-of-bounds read, leading to potential crashes of the application using this library.
