What is CVE-2016-9573?

An out-of-bounds read vulnerability was identified in OpenJPEG version 2.1.2, specifically within the j2k_to_image tool. This vulnerability can be exploited when a specially crafted JPEG2000 file is processed for conversion to another format. Successful exploitation may lead to application crashes or, in some instances, unauthorized disclosure of sensitive data from the application's memory heap.
