What is CVE-2017-12216?
A vulnerability exists in the web-based user interface of Cisco SocialMiner, allowing a remote attacker to manipulate the system's XML processing capabilities. This issue arises from improper handling of XML External Entity entries during XML file parsing. By tricking an administrator into importing a maliciously crafted XML file, an attacker could gain unauthorized read and write access to the system's files, leading to potential exposure of sensitive information or execution of arbitrary code within the environment.
