What is CVE-2017-12477?

A security issue exists in Unitrends Backup's proprietary bpserverd protocol prior to version 10.0.0, where authentication mechanisms can be circumvented. This vulnerability allows unauthorized remote attackers to gain root access and execute arbitrary commands on affected systems, exposing critical data and infrastructure to significant risks.
