What is CVE-2017-12861?

Epson's EasyMP software is designed for remotely streaming content from a user's computer to compatible projectors. The system relies on a unique 4-digit code for authentication, displayed on-screen, to ensure secure access. However, all projectors that utilize EasyMP are susceptible to a brute-force attack, permitting unauthorized users on the same network to gain remote control over the projector and stream content. This vulnerability poses significant security risks as it can lead to unauthorized access and control of the device, potentially allowing malicious users to disrupt presentations or misuse the projectors.
