What is CVE-2017-14849?

A vulnerability in Node.js versions prior to 8.6.0 enables remote attackers to access unintended files. This occurs due to an alteration in the handling of '..' components that is not compatible with the pathname validation method used by certain community modules. Malicious actors can exploit this weakness to gain unauthorized access to sensitive file directories, potentially leading to data leakage or unauthorized file manipulation.
