Heap Buffer Overflow in Qualcomm Android Implementations
CVE-2017-14888

7.8HIGH

Key Information:

Vendor
Qualcomm
Vendor
CVE Published:
7 December 2018

Summary

In various Android implementations utilizing Qualcomm's drivers, a vulnerability allows userspace to send Information Elements (IEs) to the host driver in a manner that may cause an integer variable, which tracks the length of data, to overflow. This could potentially lead to a heap buffer overflow when multiple append commands are issued. Such an overflow might compromise the system’s memory, enabling malicious actors to execute arbitrary code, thereby increasing the risk of exploitation.

Affected Version(s)

Android for MSM, Firefox OS for MSM, QRD Android All Android releases from CAF using the Linux kernel
