8.6HIGH

Key Information:

Vendor
Openstack
Status
Vendor
CVE Published:
5 December 2017

Summary

An issue in OpenStack Nova's default FilterScheduler allows an authenticated user to misuse resources on a hypervisor host. By repeatedly rebuilding instances with new images, an attacker can cause untracked resource consumption, leading to a denial of service scenario, as the process can unintentionally allocate double the required resources. This issue arises particularly in deployments using Nova stable/pike or later that have previously implemented a fix in response to OSSA-2017-005, highlighting a regression in resource management.
